VINTAGE MONACO GRAND PRIX POSTERS

On this page you will find our offerings on original, vintage Monaco Grand Prix posters and program booklets.

We have given the posters three different denominators:

  1. The normal posters - These are the posters that were sold at the track-side during the event.

  2. Signed - Signed by one or more Formula One celebrities.

  3. Hors Commerce - These are the posters which were issued BEFORE the event and are the ones that you could find hanging around the Principality of Monaco before the race. These are usually marked on the back with the text "Exemplaire non destiné a la vente", which is French for "Not destined for re-sale", and in several cases they are numbered. The usual issue for these Limited Editions is 2,000 pcs which makes them extremely rare as the shops etc. that they were given out to, to announce the race, are not allowed to sell them on and most were simply tossed away after the event!

Vintage Original 1963 Monaco Grand Prix Poster Counter Top

Newly arrived Vintage Original 1963 Monaco Grand Prix Poster Counter Top

Vintage Original 1963 Monaco Grand Prix Counter-Top Poster.

Here we have a VERY rare Monaco Grand Prix poster...

These posters could be seen hanging throughout the principality of Monaco prior to the race in 1963 but this one is a little more special...

This particular one is executed as a counter-top version and it is the very first one in this execution that we ever managed to lay our hands on.

The artwork is by French artist Michel Beligond and shows a number of F1 cars racing along the harbor of Monte-Carlo.

The race was won by Graham Hill on BRM, followed by his team mate Ritchie Ginther with Bruce McLaren on Cooper-Climax completing the podium.

As visible in the pictures, this unusual table top Monaco "poster" has been maltreated severely in its past so it is in far from mint condition but it simply oozes patina... For the exact condition, please check the photographs.

The dimensions are some 59 x 40 cm or 23.5 x 16 inches.

We have, of course, only 1 available.

We offer FREE shipping to ANY destination in the world on this item but given its value, we advise you to take the optional insurance (available at check-out) on it.

The original armband of Piers Courage Monaco Grand Prix 1968

Newly arrived The original armband of Piers Courage Monaco Grand Prix 1968

Here we have a truly unique item... this is the original armband, worn by Piers Courage during the 1968 Monaco Grand Prix!

These armbands (or "brassard" in French) could be regarded as the entry ticket to the pits, paddock etc. It was to be worn at all times (except when a driver was actually in the car on the track) and the different colors and text would indicate the "status" of the bearer.

At the 1968 Monaco grand Prix, Piers drove the Reg Parnell Racing entered BRM P126 with race number 16 which he qualified in 11th spot, a good 2.4 seconds behind pole sitter Graham Hill.

In the race he would retire in lap 12 with chassis problems.

Piers was killed on June 21, 1970 when he crashed his Frank Williams Racing Cars entered DeTomaso 505 at Zandvoort race track during the Dutch Grand Prix.

These original items that have been worn by Grand Prix drivers at such high profile events like the Monaco Grand Prix rarely come to market and we are very happy to be able to offer this brassard here.

Of course, we have only 1 available.

Franco Lini 1972 Monaco Grand Prix Armband

Newly arrived Franco Lini 1972 Monaco Grand Prix Armband

Franco Lini 1972 Monaco Grand Prix Armband.

This is the actual armband worn by Scuderia Ferrari's former race team director, Franco Lini.

Lini was engaged by Enzo Ferrari to replace Eugenio Dragoni who was fired by Enzo in 1966 due to continuous conflicts with the press.

Lini, a journalist for French newspaper L'Equipe and Italian car magazine AutoItaliana, was hired to restore press contacts and to run the racing team.

Although Lini was successful on restoring the press connections, the results in racing made him leave by the end of the 1967 season. The Formula One team failed to score a single victory in 1967, lost Lorenzo Bandini in a horrendous crash at Monaco but the Sportscar Team managed to secure the world title, beating archenemy Ford by a single point...

After having left the Scuderia, Lini returned to journalism. He died in 1997.

This armband was worn by Line during the 1972 Grand Prix of Monaco and gave him access to all areas which were reserved for the press.

The 1972 Monaco GP was won by Jean-Pierre Beltoise on BRM with Jacky Ickx taking second place for Ferrari while his team mate, Clay Regazzoni, crashed in lap 51.

In very good condition for its age and of course a unique item.

Original 1974 Monaco Grand Prix Poster - Limited Edition

Newly arrived Original 1974 Monaco Grand Prix Poster - Limited Edition

Original 1974 Monaco Grand Prix Race Poster which was held on May 26, 1974 in the streets of Monte-Carlo.

This is one of the original posters that was actually hanging in the Principality of Monaco to advertise the 1974 Monaco Grand Prix.

Each year, the ACM (Automobile Club de Monaco, organizing body of the Monaco Grand Prix) issues a limited number of posters and distributes these amongst the hotels, cafés, restaurants and shops of Monte-Carlo with the intention that the shopkeepers etc actually display the posters to actually advertise the event.

To prevent these posters from being sold before the event, and thus rendering them useless as a publicity tool, these are usually marked with a text and in this case even a serial number!

In the middle of the "white" bottom border, it is marked "TIRAGE HORS COMMERCE . EXEMPLAIRE No 01114" which translates into as much as "Non-Commercial Edition . Copy number 01114".

Naturally, these posters are much more rare than the "normal" event posters which could be bought by the public before and during the race.

This particular one is one of those rare limited edition posters and has seen some proper use, which is visible in the photo. It has scratches, folds and nicks to it.

So, it is most definitely NOT in mint condition!

The photos are of the actual poster that is up for sale here, so please be your own judge on its condition but note that there is a fair degree of "camera glare" in the pictures due to the glossy finish of the poster.

The poster, produced by Edition J. Ramel in Nice, France, shows a fantastic, and very artistic, photo-montage of Emerson Fittipaldi's Lotus 72E, on his way to winning the 1973 edition, against a backdrop of the principality and its Mediterranean harbor and coastline. The photos are by photographer Bob Martin.

The race was won by Ronnie Peterson (Lotus), ahead of Jody Scheckter (Tyrrell) with Jean-Pierre Jarrier on Shadow completing the podium.

The poster measures some 62 x 42 cm or 24.4 x 16.5 inches.

Only 1 (one) available.

We offer FREE shipping to ANY destination in the world on this item but given its value, we advise you to take the optional insurance (available at check-out) on it.

This is one of the original posters that was actually hanging in the Principality of Monaco to advertise the 1995 Monaco Grand Prix which was held on May 25 - May 28 of that year.

Each year, the ACM (Automobile Club de Monaco, organizing body of the Monaco Grand Prix) issues a limited number of posters and distributes these amongst the hotels, cafés, restaurants and shops of Monte-Carlo with the intention that the shopkeepers etc actually display the posters to advertise the event.

To prevent these posters from being sold before the event, and thus rendering them useless as a publicity tool, these are marked on the back with the text "EXEMPLAIRE NON DESTINÉ A LA VENTE" which translates into as much as "Not for resale".

Logically, these posters are much more rare than the "normal" event posters which could be bought by the public before and during the race.

This particular one is one of the rare limited edition posters and carries the above-mentioned text on the back and has seen some proper use, which is visible in the photos, light fraying to the edges and knocks to the corners.
