Vintage 1955 24 heures du Mans Mini Race Poster.
June 11 & 12, 1955.
With the prices of an original 1955 poster going into the many thousands of US$ now, this vintage original mini poster might be an excellent alternative for your collection.
These mini posters carry two arabic gum stripes on the front so it could be attached to the inside of a (car) window.
This poster is part of the so-called "Major Illustrators" era in Le Mans posters which lasted from 1954 - 1963 and in which the cream of the crop of French motorsport illustrators such as Geo Ham, Jeudon and Beligond were hired for the design of the race posters.
The design of the 1955 poster came from world-renowned motorsport artist Geo Ham who opted for the symbolic approach. The place is the Mulsanne hump at the end of the Les Hunaudieres straight. Power, the night and the time are the key motifs in the illustration.
